December 6, 2010

This week Jeremy didn't send one single letter for the blog, instead he spent his time responding to several e-mails (mostly from Mom and Dad)! So, here are some parts of each of his responses:

Hey guys,
I'm good! and the work is great. We are mostly teachin children, but we're baptizing every one ha! So, we're finding more adults along with children to teach. Mom your prayers would be much appreciated though. Thanks about the talk (Jeremy sent home a recording of a talk he gave in a sacrament meeting several weeks ago) :-) I enjoyed givin it, it was fun.

It has been so nice here the last week. Like 50s and clear sunshine so it feels like 60s there. It's been nice. Haha My tongue finally healed about saturday, that was so funny.
Thank you ssoo much for sendin my package ^_^ I'll probly go ahead and open the gift from dad, but i'll save the rest of them. The people we live with put up a Christmas tree for us :) so i'll just stick them under there till then.

I'm proud of Ethan. And all them guys. They're doin great. That makes me SO happy that they're still doin the class and that they're doin so well. I'm glad dad is healing well and that yall have pretty much finished your project! I want to ssseeeeeeeeeeeee. So yes, please send pictures.

I got to confirm someone on sunday :-) It was really cool. She's a 12 year old girl we've been teaching and  i TOTALLY wasn't expecting it but she asked me to on the spot so it's good i knew how! haha It was awesome. She's a great girl. I love sundays here. We went to 3 sacrament meetings plus class plus the First Presidency Christmas Devotional and it was great. I bore my testimony all three times and told everyone to give us people to teach! Cause we need them. I LOVE MY MISSION! :)

I'll tell ya, you can never learn too much about repentance. It's cool, the way we teach repentance to kids and sometimes adults. Here's what you do- you take a pen and hold it in your fist. You just sinned. The pen represents something bad, or just general sin, and there's 5 steps to repentance:
#1, (you have them stick out their thumb and point at themselves with it) "I" did something wrong. I recognize it and admit it.
#2 ( have them stick out their pointer finger and motion as if to say "shame on me") Shame on me. You gotta feel bad about it.
#3 ( make your three fingers that are out look like a gun) "You gotta shoot it up to who?", "Heavenly Father." "Very good." So you pray and ask forgiveness, etc.
#4 ( have them stick out their ring finger) If i was to break my finger, what would we have to do? Fix it. So step four is fixing the problem or what you did to the best of your ability.
#5 The last step to getting rid of your sin, ( you put out your pinky and drop the pen ) Is to pinky promise never to do it again.

I dunno, i like it ha It's a cool way to get them to visualize and remember the steps and it has actually really helped me remember all the steps cause the 2nd half of the visualization is you do lets say, only 3 of the steps. Is your sin gone? ( no, cause you're still holdin on with two of your fingers ) You gotta do all 5. And you can totally go as deep with the points or as simple a you want. It's been interesting in my studies to study repentance and see that those really are the 5 steps. It's been pretty cool :)
